A new version of VolleyWrite to handle large rosters is coming!
All volleyball associations in the U.S. require jersey numbers of 1 or 2 Arabic numerals. That means that a roster containing every possible number would include numbers from 0 (or 1) to 99 for a maximum of 100 players. (Some associations restrict the minimum and maximum jersey number to a smaller number set, which is reflected in their rule set.) When we were creating VolleyWrite, we were looking at high school rosters and most had less than 18 players, so we thought 25 would be a reasonable limit. When USA Volleyball scoring and rules were added, the limit was less than 18, so we had no issues. However, when collegiate volleyball was added and NAIA substitution rules needed to be incorporated, VolleyWrite could not support them.
We are now testing a new version with an architecture which allows up to 100 players on the Rosters tab and displays the bench as a scroll view to support more than 27 players. The documentation for the Rosters tab and Set tab, and any affected rule sets will be updated.
We’ve known of this limitation for quite a while, so we’re looking forward to publishing this change as soon as we can.
