AVCA Convention 2016 – Here we come!

If you happen to be in Columbus, Ohio, feel free to visit us at the VolleyWrite booth, #555 at the Columbus Convention Center on Thursday, Friday and Saturday (12/15 – 12/17) for the annual AVCA Convention.  We will be demonstrating how easy it is to use VolleyWrite, and we will have a sample tournament set up on VolleyTourney and interface VolleyWrite to it.  It will be a lot of fun!

The Marketplace is open to coaches:

on Thursday, 12/15 from 10 am to 12:30 pm and from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm ,

on Friday, 12/16 from 12:45 to 7:30 pm, and

on Saturday, 12/17 from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm.

We hope to see you there!

VolleyWrite for tournaments

Since VolleyWrite supports all US volleyball, it was used at Elder High School on April 2 for their freshman tournament.  The JV team kept score with ease!  You can see the results in bracket form at http://www.volleytourney.com/Tournament/Schedule/35.  VolleyWrite updated the web site with live scores and filled the brackets automatically.  It was beautiful!  (And congrats to the Moeller freshman team who won the tourney.)

VolleyWrite loves Massachusetts!

20160305_111841 Rob Slavin of the MGVCA invited us to their annual coaches clinic on March 5, 2016, and we went!

The coaches totally ROCK in Massachusetts! They were so very nice and asked all the right questions about VolleyWrite.  20160305_111758

VolleyWrite introduced at Borderline tournament, Ohio

VolleyWrite at Borderline Feb 20On February 20, 2016, Borderline Volleyball Club in Oxford, Ohio used VolleyWrite in conjunction with Wildfire Sports LLC’s tournament management website.

It was a bit of a surprise for the participating teams, but the girls did very well with the quick explanation they received before their matches.

20160220_131925One 12-year-old scorer told her mom that she loved electronic scoring and doesn’t want to score on paper again!  (That’s exactly what we want to hear!)

You can see the results on the Borderline dashboard at VolleyTourney.com.

It was really cool for the parents to look at the screen in the concession area and watch as the live scores were updated and the brackets filled.

Novice Scorer Saves the Day

Just wanted to share a story with you:

A View from the stand on Court 2We were at the NVVA in Virginia earlier this year.  I noticed the up ref getting off the stand during a match so I went over to see if there was a problem with VolleyWrite.  The situation was that the coach of the winning team had tried to sub a player into the deciding set of the match, but that player had been exceptionally substituted in the second set.  VolleyWrite would not allow the player onto the court.  The player using VolleyWrite was actually the libero tracker, and she informed the down ref that the sub was illegal.  Neither the adult at the table nor the coach of the team at fault knew the rule, and had insisted that VolleyWrite was wrong.  Although her heart was pounding, the tracker stood her ground and made sure the points were removed (four points were scored while she was arguing her point) and the court positions straightened out.  She did a great job!

VolleyWrite for NCAA Women

Thanks to Emi Vishoot, Lucas Tuggle and Mike Chandler for the opportunity to train some of the SWOBO scorers at Xavier University to use VolleyWrite on Sunday, August 16!  As much as we enjoyed doing the scorekeeping ourselves, it is nice to have others to “take the helm” while we do the libero tracking.  Thank you for your support!
